Ed has over 10 years of experience in Marketing, Business Operations,
and Production in the high-tech industry. In the early 2000s, he
was a Web Production Manager with a team of 17 direct reports when
the “dot com bust” hit, severely affecting the San Francisco Bay
Area job market. He was kept on staff as one of the last employees
at egghead.com as the doors closed. He then faced a decision to
make about the next stage of his career.
With the uncertainty of the web development job market at that
time, Ed decided to go back to school.Since he already had technical
experience and was enjoying his job as a manager, he decided to
further develop his management skills. In 2004, Ed completed a Bachelors
of Science in Business Management. He then decided to specialize
in a technology segment that he thought would show significant growth
and opportunity for many years to come… Information Security. Ed
went on to pursue his Masters Degree and in August 2007, he earned
his Masters in National Security with a concentration in Information
Protection from the University of New Haven.
As the final step towards his degree, Ed completed an internship
at the Technology Administration in Washington D.C. working directly
with Robert Cresanti, the Under Secretary of Commerce for Technology
and Chief Privacy Officer for the Department of Commerce. During
his time with the Technology Administration, Ed was involved in
several projects relating to privacy and security. These included
reviewing the President’s strategic plan to combat identity theft
and working directly with William C. Barker chief of Computer Security
at NIST. Ed has developed a personal interest in the innovative
uses of RFID technology and in personal information protection.
Throughout Ed’s career, he has managed and delivered high profile
projects, effectively facilitated communications between technical
and non-technical parties, and managed small to large teams. He
is now leveraging his professional experience and his education
in his career in Information Security. To see what some of Ed’s
